Mitchel Forman (born January 24, 1956) is a jazz and fusion keyboard player. Biography and music career. Forman in 2007. Mitchel Forman began studying classical piano at the age of seven. At 17 he entered the Manhattan School of Music (MSM) for three years of study and began working with bands in New York.
After graduating from the Manhattan School of Music, Mitchel began touring with some of the giants of jazz, such as Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, John McLaughlin and Wayne Shorter. He also was a top NY session musician on piano and keyboards for many years.
However, he made his strongest impression on electric keyboards, playing with the re-formed Mahavishnu Orchestra, Wayne Shorter, and recording for Magenta (1985) and Novus (1991).
Available now on: Mitchel Forman, who usually plays electric keyboards in more "contemporary" settings, sticks to acoustic piano during his heartfelt tribute to Bill Evans. Forman performs eight songs associated with the late pianist along with two of his originals.
