    The Houston Texans joined the National Football League for the 2002 season. They finished the season with a 4-12 record and did not make the playoffs.

    Santonio Holmes was named Super Bowl MVP after the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Arizona Cardinals. This came as a result of Holmes having 131 receiving yards and a touchdown.

    Ed Reed finished his career with 64 total interceptions. Deion Sanders was fairly close but only had 53.
