The Strasenburgh Planetarium exhibits are open to the public every Wednesday–Friday from 1:30–5:00pm. Tickets purchased online are valid for the date selected and are non refundable . Seats are first come, first served.
The Strasenburgh Planetarium is a public planetarium located at 663 East Avenue in the city of Rochester, New York. It is named after its benefactors, Edwin and Clara Strasenburgh. It is a department of the Rochester Museum and Science Center. The Planetarium was dedicated on September 14, 1968.
At the Planetarium, visitors can travel through the universe under our 65-foot dome theater and immerse themselves in star shows based on up-to-date research. From Star Shows highlighting celestial bodies to featured films giving insight to the natural beauty surrounding us on planet Earth, people can find something new to explore with each visit.
The Strasenburgh Planetarium opened in 1968 at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. It offers public star shows by the Zeiss Star Projector on the 4-story dome. It also regularly offers large-screen movie presentations and laser light/music shows.
The Strasenburgh Planetarium presents an amazing show of stars as they evolve over the course of day and night over a backdrop of the Rochester city skyline. The narrative accompanying the show is engaging and informative. The seats are comfortable and the views are excellent from all vantage points.
