University High School is a public high school located in the city of Waco, Texas, part of Waco Independent School District and classified as a 5A school by the University Interscholastic League. It is one of two public high schools in Waco ISD, the other being Waco High School.
The mission of University High School is to work as a team of students, teachers, parents, and community members to teach and model the actions of Love, Serve, and Care. At UHS we believe that everyone who loves, serves, and cares is a leader at our school.
University High school began on Bagby Ave on the campus of the former Waco Technical High School. According to then Waco ISD Superintendent E.N. Dennard, “University means universal, and that's what this school is-a universal school teaching all subjects.” That quote still rings true today.
