     Namespaces are a programming language mechanism for organizing variables, functions and classes. PHP 5.3 adds support for namespaces, which I'll demonstrate in the following example:

     Here is a shorter, cleaner way to get the IP address:

     Your code seems to be pretty complete already, I cannot see any possible bugs in it (aside from the usual IP caveats), I would change the validate_ip() function to rely on the filter extension though:

     Even then however, getting a user's real IP address is going to be unreliable. All they need to do is use an anonymous proxy server (one that doesn't honor the headers for http_x_forwarded_for, http_forwarded, etc) and all you get is their proxy server's IP address.

     You can then see if there is a list of proxy server IP addresses that are anonymous, but there is no way to be sure that is 100% accurate as well and the most it'd do is let you know it is a proxy server. And if someone is being clever, they can spoof headers for HTTP forwards.

     Let's say I don't like the local college. I figure out what IP addresses they registered, and get their IP address banned on your site by doing bad things, because I figure out you honor the HTTP forwards. The list is endless.

     Then there is, as you guessed, internal IP addresses such as the college network I metioned before. A lot use a 10.x.x.x format. So all you would know is that it was forwarded for a shared network.

     Then I won't start much into it, but dynamic IP addresses are the way of broadband anymore. So. Even if you get a user IP address, expect it to change in 2 - 3 months, at the longest.

     The explode on HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR is because of weird issues we had detecting IP addresses when Squid was used.

     • Server doesn't scan for *.so files automatically, it loads extensions mentioned in php config files in extension=extension.so and zend_extension=extension.so configurations. To check all config files which are loaded during server start run the command php --ini, my example output is:

     $ php --iniConfiguration File (php.ini) Path: /usr/local/etc/php/7.1Loaded Configuration File: /usr/local/etc/php/7.1/php.iniScan for additional .ini files in: /usr/local/etc/php/7.1/conf.dAdditional .ini files parsed: /usr/local/etc/php/7.1/conf.d/ext-opcache.ini,/usr/local/etc/php/7.1/conf.d/ext-phalcon.ini,/usr/local/etc/php/7.1/conf.d/ext-xdebug.ini,/usr/local/etc/php/7.1/conf.d/php-memory-limits.ini

     In you case it looks like you might have messed versions: your config file is located in /usr/local/etc/php/7.1/php.ini (version 7.1) but you are trying to put additional config files in /usr/local/etc/php/5.6/conf.d/ (version 5.6). Try to put them in /usr/local/etc/php/7.1/conf.d

     • You should specify extension dir path in your php.ini, I have the value

     extension_dir = "/usr/local/lib/php/pecl/20160303"-

     This value is valid for php version 7.1, timestamp 20160303 specifies PHP API version for the extensions. You can also check that PECL configuration for the extension dir has the same value as in php config using the command

     pecl config-get ext_dir-

     After these steps you can check if extension is loaded with the command

     php -m-

     It lists all the loaded php modules and extensions. If some extension is mentioned in config file but could not be loaded, you will get warning.

     A web browser interprets the output of a PHP program as HTML, so \n and \r\n will not appear to do anything, just like inserting a newline in an HTML file. On the other hand, <br /> makes a new line in the interpreted HTML (hence "line BReak"). Therefore, <br /> will make new lines, whereas \r\n will not do anything.

     There are different reasons for each case, there is a good example on the PHP site.

     The reason you'd use curly brackets around a namespace is if there are multiple namespaces in the one file or where you need to have global non-namespaced code in the same file as code that is contained within a namespace.

     Also if there are multiple namespaces in one file, the non-bracketed syntax is allowed as well.

     As per php guidelines this is not recommended and if you can, just keep it to one namespace per file.
