And there is a wide variety of beaches to choose from, anywhere from beaches that feel like a deserted island to active fun-filled beaches with activities for everyone in the family to enjoy.
- Lido Key Beach. Lido Key Beach is the closest beach to Sarasota and easily one of the nicest. Reached via the John Ringling Causeway, Lido Key Beach has soft, whitish sand lapped by the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
- Siesta Key Beach. This incredible white-sand beach is consistently ranked as one of the best in North America and for good reason. Soft quartzite sand is the norm here, unlike crushed shells and limestone at other beaches along this shoreline.
- Coquina Beach. Located at the southern end of Anna Maria Island, Coquina Beach is an excellent spot for day-tripping. The beach has extensive parking, so finding a spot is generally not an issue.
- Cortez Beach. Farther north, near the historic center of Bradenton, is the low-key Cortez Beach. A quieter spot than Coquina, Cortez features a series of piers extending into the Gulf of Mexico.
- Turtle Beach. This quiet beach on the South end of Siesta Key, Florida, is usually far less crowded than other Sarasota beaches. This beach gets its name for being an active sea turtle habitat during their mating season.
- Crescent Beach. Located at the south end of Siesta Key Beach is Crescent Beach. This beach offers powdery white sand, plenty of amenities, and breathtaking sunsets.
- Lido Key Beach. Like other Sarasota beaches, Lido Key Beach is worth visiting. It’s among the finest white sand beaches in Sarasota, it gives nature lovers a wonderful experience of Florida’s nature mixed with an urban setting.

- Relax at Coquina Beach. If you’re staying in or near Sarasota, Coquina Beach is well worth making a day out of, located on the Southern end of the gorgeous Anna Maria Island.
