The University of Moratuwa (also referred as Moratuwa University) (Sinhala: මොරටුව විශ්වවිද්යාලය Moraṭuwa Wiśwawidyālaya, Tamil: மொறட்டுவைப் பல்கலைக்கழகம்) is a public university in Sri Lanka.
University of Moratuwa is one of the top public universities in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. It is ranked #=166 in Asian University Rankings - Southern Asia 2024.
The University of Moratuwa (UOM), the successor to the Institute of Practical Technology, Katubedda set up in 1960 and Ceylon College of Technology set up in 1966, commenced functioning as Katubedda Campus on 15th February 1972.
The University of Moratuwa was established in 1978 in Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, but its roots go back to 1893 with the Government Technical School in Colombo. There are six main faculties at the university: architecture, engineering, information technology, business, medicine, and graduate studies.
