Jun 7, 2001 · Resurrecting an old thread--I have been digging a live bootleg of Andy w/Scofield at the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico, CA. Andy played supportive grooves all night and then stepped forward on "Boozer" with one of the tastiest, funkiest bass solos I have EVER heard.
You can hear a Gibson EB-O on tracks such as Like Flies and Unring The Bell, a Hofner Beatle Bass on Endless Parade as well as using his Fender basses on tracks such as Three String George (a 52 reissue Precision).
Andy Hess (born December 4, 1966) [1] is an American bassist and former member of Gov't Mule, having joined the band in 2003. Previously, he was The Black Crowes' bassist from February 2001 until their hiatus early the following year.
I play the Bass and reside in New York City. I've been fortunate to work with many wonderful musicians and producers since arriving here in the 1990's. I've done a lot of touring and have also been involved in a variety of recordings. Please check out the recordings page for a partial discography.
