Artist Point Trailhead. Provides access to: Artist Ridge Trail 669, Chain Lakes Trail 682, Ptarmigan Ridge Trail 682.1, and Table Mountain Trail 681. These trails access Mt. Baker Wilderness. The road to Artist Point is not plowed and is closed to vehicles during the winter months.
Dec 3, 2020 · Artist Point lies at the end of the Mount Baker Scenic Byway, near Washington’s border with Canada. A striking viewpoint of epic proportions, it boasts a 360 degree canvas of picture perfection. Artist Point’s craggy snow-clad mountains puncture the horizon in all directions.
Artist Point is located at the very end of Mount Baker Highway, State Route 542 and boasts 360-degree views of Mount Shuksan and Mount Baker, as well as access to a variety of trails.
When it comes to jaw-dropping scenic views in Washington state, Artist Point at Mt Baker is quite possibly our absolute favorite spot. It’s a place that blows us away every time we visit, and it never gets old. With views of both the iconic Mt Shuksan and Mt Baker towering above, the alpine landscape is pretty hard to beat.
Artist Point is the top competitor for best viewpoint in the state. The beautifully shaped Mount Shuksan is the star of the area, with a gorgeous summit pyramid and several impressive glaciers. Mount Baker dominates the skyline in the southwest.
Offering grand views of Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan, the trails were almost legendary. They were not hard on the knees. It was even cool to be able to walk on snow in July.
