Tallapoosa is located in Haralson County, in the northwestern part of Georgia, United States. Positioned near the Alabama state line, it lies southwest of Atlanta and northwest of Carrollton. The city is situated along U.S. Route 78, providing easy access to other regional landmarks.
The new city of Tallapoosa attracted some 15,000 investors, 3,000 new inhabitants and a billion dollars in capitalization. It was a city “built as if by magic,” Henry W. Grady said, “one which challenged the attention and admiration of the world.”.
