Shinigami Eyes (死神の目, shinigami no me), also known as Shinigami Eyeballs or Eyes of the Shinigami, are eyes bestowed by Shinigami per a deal. They allow the user to see both the names and lifespans of humans floating above their heads.
Shinigami Eyes and the Death Note. The main thing all Shinigami have in common is the Death Note. This supernatural notebook allows them to end the lives of humans before their times, adding the human's remaining lifespans to their own. In this manner, a Shinigami can extend their lives indefinitely.
With Shinigami Eyes, the lifespan of a human is visible as written numbers floating above the human's head, as well as the human's name. This lifespan will, however, not change in appearance if altered by use of a Death Note in the human world and will always show the human's primary lifespan.
