The Main Library is a historic library on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Urbana, Illinois. Built in 1924, the library was the third built for the school; it replaced Altgeld Hall, which had become too small for the university's collections.
Mar 20, 2024 · Access Materials. Visitors are welcome to browse books on the shelves in most departmental libraries. Access to the Main Stacks in the Main Library is limited to University of Illinois faculty, staff, and students, as well as patrons with courtesy cards.
