Been reminiscing about the good ol' days of scouring PureVolume and Myspace trying to find new music and then downloading on Kazaa. Anyone ever listen to these bands? Got any to add?
- Attack Attack! Pioneers of crabcore (check out the video for Stick Stickly if you’ve no idea what we’re talking about), Attack Attack! gained a solid following on MySpace, which led to the band being signed by Rise Records.
- Black Veil Brides. The brainchild of a teenage Andy Biersack – known as ‘Andy Six’ back then – Black Veil Brides amassed a cult following on MySpace which led to debut album We Stitch These Wounds selling an impressive 10,000 copies in its first week.
- Bring Me The Horizon. Nine years ago, when MySpace was still a pretty big deal for bands looking to catch a break, Bring Me The Horizon were playing the social media game better than most, to the extent that they were the most popular band on the whole website in 2010.
- Brokencyde. One of the names most synonymous with the much-maligned genre of crunkcore, there was a time when Brokencyde somehow threatened to become a huge deal in alternative music.
I followed a cool band that I heard a few songs from on Myspace shortly before going over to Facebook circa 2007-2008. They were a bit moody electro, kinda with some guitars used in a different style.
