Occupying three acres at the very tip of Pine Island, Pine Island Park is Hernando County's only public beach. The white sand beach is shaded by palm trees and provides a number of shelters and pavilions that are available on a first-come first-served basis.
This park was awesome. The beach was nice and clean. It wasn’t too crowded. There were nice picnic shelters and a cool restaurant/snack bar. The showers and changing area were convenient. We had fun on the beach volleyball court and playground. I highly recommend it!

Mr. McKethan was influential in the improvements made to what is now Cortez Boulevard, and the only road onto the island: Pine Island Drive.
Has a beach for swimming (with showers) (no lifegaurds), bird watching, concession stand, picnic shelters with electric, pavilions, barbecue grills, playground, restrooms, volleyball court, and observation point. Pine Island Beach was the closest beach to our vacation home in Hernando Beach. After seeing much of the canals and lack of beach in Hernando, I was skeptical that it would be little more than a rocky lake.
