Actor-comedian-screenwriter Ronny Graham brought Mr. Dirt to life in a series of spots, including this one: In addition to the commercials, Ronny found opportunities to appear on such shows as M*A*S*H and Chico & The Man , playing a preacher on the latter series during season 2.
His other film credits included roles in Dirty Little Billy (1972), Won Ton Ton, the Dog Who Saved Hollywood (1976), The World"s Greatest Lover (1977) and History of the World, Participant I (1981). Ronny Graham was an American actor and theater director, composer, lyricist, and writer.
Back in 2004, I read an article about the late-great actor/comedian/writer, Ronny Graham. I remembered Ronny from a commercial for car oil -- 1960s, 1970s vintage -- in which he crawled out from under the hood of a car and said in his gravely voice, "They call me Mr. Dirt."
