A sales agent is a person who is licensed by the Real Estate Commission to act as an agent on behalf of a real estate broker and their clients. A sales agent must be sponsored by a licensed Broker in order to perform any act of real estate services.
As public records, contract forms adopted by the Texas Real Estate Commission are available to any person. Real estate license holders are required to use these forms. However, TREC contract forms are intended for use primarily by licensed real estate brokers or sales agents who are trained in their correct use.
Rules and Laws. Our license holders are governed by the The Real Estate License Act, the Inspector Act, and the Timeshare Act. These Acts establish the makeup of the Commission and its advisory committees and outline procedures by which a person can become real estate license holders in Texas.

Aug 16, 2018 · In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the Texas Real Estate Commission and the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board (the Agency) extended all deadlines for two months for all license holders and applicants statewide with license expiration or application deadlines in August and September.
The Texas Real Estate Commission is composed of nine members appointed by the Governor for six-year terms. Six members must be licensed real estate brokers. Three members must be members of the general public who are not regulated by the Commission.
