The First Council of Nicaea (/ naɪˈsiːə / ny-SEE-ə; Ancient Greek: Σύνοδος τῆς Νικαίας, romanized:Sýnodos tês Nikaías) was a council of Christian bishops convened in the Bithynian city of Nicaea (now İznik, Turkey) by the Roman Emperor Constantine I.
