The current company of Universal Television was formed in 1962 after MCA bought Decca Records, who was also the owner of Universal-International Pictures and renamed MCA's television production company Revue Studios to the then-current name.
In 1997, Universal sold off its USA Networks and Universal Television to Barry Diller, who renamed it to Studios USA. In 1998, the breakup of United International Pictures' TV arm led to Universal reforming its own international television distributor, Universal Worldwide Television.

Universal Media Studios reverted back to its original moniker name, Universal Television on September 12, 2011, along with a redesigned logo and new staff.
May 11, 2004 · All shows in production by either Universal TV, NBC, or USA Cable Entertainment changed to the NBC Universal logo starting on September 20, 2004. On January 26, 2011, Vivendi S.A. sold the remaining 20% of NBC Universal to GE until January 28, when Comcast Corporation acquired 51% of NBC Universal, Inc. with GE owning 49%.
Universal-International Television was a short-lived division of Universal Pictures, prior to the merger with MCA. This is one of the rarest and most confusing logos ever made.
