Hello! Albert's Essential Cell Bio is more of introductory text while MBoC delves deeper. I'd recommend the former if you are just a freshie so that youd have a better holistic understanding before going into the details of things. For Microbiology books, I recommend you read Brocks Biology of Microrganisms.
