Special counsel Jack Smith finds himself at more than one prosecutorial crossroads as he weighs how to move forward on former President Trump’s Jan. 6 case in the wake of the Supreme Court’s immunity decision. Smith last week asked to extend deadlines in the case to late August, a shift for a prosecutor who previously pushed for a schedule that would bring the case to trial before the election.

A former county clerk in Colorado who had become an icon among election deniers was convicted of election interference Monday for a breach of her county’s voting systems. Tina Peters, the former clerk of Mesa County, was found guilty of four felonies after a lengthy criminal trial. She was cleared of three lesser charges.

The technology, developed by a company called Tobii, tracks the focus of homebuyers in real time. According to the research, homebuyers often skip over key areas like cellars, roofs, and attics, despite their potential to harbor significant issues. Here is Daniel Copley of property portal, Zoopla. "What they really need to be doing is looking at things like the brickwork, looking for signs of condensation or damp, the chimney, the boiler, the electrics, maybe even the Wi-Fi signal.” They eye-tracking tool highlights what areas, items or rooms draw buyers' attention and which are neglected. Jon Ward is Tobii's sales director. “The glasses have got four cameras built into the lenses and a number of illuminators. And the easiest way to describe what we do is, it's a little bit like the cat's eyes on the road. When your headlights hit it, it illuminates up and it's nice and bright. We're doing the same with the pupils. Totally harmless. Doesn't do anything there. The cameras pick up this reflection and then some very clever mathematics work out where you're actually looking from the image.” The experiment revealed that homebuyers often overlook structural elements of the property. Instead, they spend more time looking at furniture and decorative items. The trial found that only 38% of buyers' attention was on structural elements, while 54% was drawn to cosmetic features and furnishings. “Because you know you've got them on it does make you look up and look at certain things. So I enjoyed the experience, I really did. And the fact that it made me more aware to be aware, and I think that's a good thing.” Britain's new government has set out to deliver 1.5 million more homes before the next election. According to Richard Donnell, executive director at Zoopla, this will result in increased house-buying activity in the years to come. "This isn't like buying a car every three years. And it's a complicated process and there's more everyone can do. And technology like this helps us and others work out how to help consumers fill in those gaps and have a better experience."

Vice President Harris is up 4 points on former President Trump in three battleground states with less than three months left until the election, according to new polling from The New York Times/Siena College. The survey, published Saturday morning, found that Harris has taken the lead over the former president in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, garnering 50 percent support to Trump’s 46 percent in the hypothetical matchup.

Former President Trump’s campaign said some of its internal communications were recently hacked by foreign sources. The breach was first reported by Politico after the outlet received emails from an anonymous account with documents from the Trump campaign. The campaign said the leak came from “foreign sources hostile to the United States.” His campaign pointed to a report released Friday from Microsoft that said Iran is targeting the 2024 election.

Pollster and communication strategist Frank Luntz says there has been a shift in enthusiasm among voters towards Kamala Harris. Luntz believes Harris would win if the election were today.

Former President Donald Trump's campaign says its emails were hacked and suggests Iran may be involved. A CBS News cybersecurity analyst says if Iran did this, it's similar to hacking done by Russian-backed WikiLeaks in 2016 that obtained information about then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. It's raising concern about wider efforts to interfere in the upcoming election.
