  1. In the same vein, avoid "wind-up" animations for actions. If a player is going to kick, have the first frame with their leg fully extended, and use blur or trails to give an effect of motion. Don't require animations to complete for other actions to trigger.

  2. Motion controls are gamepad- or fightstick-only. If you plan on targeting mobile or web, you cannot use any motions except double tap. Quarter Circles (236 and 214) and Down-Down (22) are simple enough that you can use them and still be accessible.

Another year, another Capcom fighting game; there's really no stop to their constant recycling of 2D fighters. Every system since the Super Nintendo has seen their fair share of deluxe super champion turbo editions of Street Fighter or Street Fighter-related game, so why stop with the Xbox, right? Well, this time there's actually more than meets the eye. Along with a solid, albeit dated fighting game, Xbox owners will have the privilege of playing their favorite Capcom or SNK character(s) against someone thousands of miles away -- or next door, if that's your fancy -- and the experience is more than adequate.

    Gameplay

Capcom VS SNK 2 is composed almost entirely of classic Street Fighter and SNK fighting techniques, which means lots of charge moves, half and quarter circles, and super moves. What's new to the game are the different "grooves," or fighting styles. Although the "Capcom" and "SNK" grooves were introduced in a previous game, Capcom VS SNK 2 takes this concept a step further by introducing six different grooves: C, A, P, S, N, and K. Clever, isn't it?

If you're a 2D fighting fan, it doesn't get much better than this. There's a ton of characters, balanced gameplay, and most importantly, online fighting. Yes, the graphics are extremely dated; yes, this is pretty much the same game we've been playing for years now; and yes, Mai should be a character in DOA Volleyball, but Capcom VS SNK 2 EO is a shining example of gameplay over graphics if there ever was one. Not including Guilty Gear X2 on PS2, there is no other 2D fighting game that even comes close to dishing out the kind of fun that this game does.

The significance of online play in Capcom VS SNK 2 EO cannot be underestimated. Without it, the game loses the only feature that really sets it apart from the other console versions, as well as other fighting games in general. Ask any gamer that plays 2D fighting games and they'll tell you that online play is something that could not have come soon enough. Fighting games thrive off human competition, and the ability to play against people around the world from the comforts of your bedroom is a marked achievement. Well done.

  3. Jul 27, 2024 · But in a fighting game where you want fast inputs, you dont need standard triggers. The FCO for PS5 doesn’t have a right analog stick, which is fine since you don’t need one for playing...

  4. Sep 29, 2021 · Probably the most challenging use of a stick outside of fighting games. It’s my preferred way to play all genres of arcade-style games (from beatemups to puzzle games like Tetris) and classical platformers that don’t require use of the right analog stick or triggers.

  5. TLDR: You can get just as good if you have a preference for it, but it will take longer, be more frustrating, and overall has many downsides compared to all other primary control methods (fightstick, dpad, leverlrss)
