Jan 6, 2005 · The NxStage appears much more versatile than the AKSYS. What are your opinions? And please remind me, are both designed for daily dialysis only and what is the length of time they can run, dialysate flow rate, dialyzer used? How does the NxStage compensate for not having a sodium modeling feature…is it unnecessary on shorter runs?
I’m starting dialysis soon. I would like to do home dialysis (PD not an option for me right now). Nxstage is new to my province so I don’t know much about it. Is anyone on here currently using the Nxstage system at home? Do you find it user friendly? What is mixing the dialysate bags like?

For example, I started on the NxStage using a Perma Cath as my access. At that time my flow rate was max allowed was 300, therefore my run time were almost 4 hours.
