Attached is a photo of a 100 grain .257 bullet taken from a dead deer shot at 351 yards with a .25 Souper (.25-.308) at a MV of about 3,000 fps, using the hollow point version. The bullet hit the deer at an angle and went thru more than 3 feet of deer before coming to rest.
Aug 3, 2016 · I believe the Barnes LRX bullet is made to expand at a much lower velocity than the TSX or TTSX bullet. I've gotten a chance to try a factory box of LRX in 270 Win and out of my Savage they are accurate.
Oct 28, 2019 · I used IMR 4895 with a muzzle velocity of 2615 FPS. He shot a black tail 2 weeks ago at 115 yds in the base of the neck. So impact velocity was around 2420fps ish.
Apr 20, 2021 · I shoot the Barnes 6.5 127gr LRX in my Tikka 6.5x55 & Savage 260 Rem. Since most all my shots are under 200 yds/m, impact velocity would be high. At least 2400 fps, I would guess. . My muzzle velocity out of both rifles is just slightly over 2900 feet per second. Used on deer & elk they perform perfectly.
