RE5. RE4 isnt really revolutionary because of its story. It grows leon's character and paves the story for RE5. I think its pretty cool, but it isnt really Resident evil. Its pretty silly, and RE5 is just much better in this aspect Item management: RE4. Re4 keeps you on edge, having to be scarce with the healing items and ammo, as they are scarce.
In terms of just pure difficulty RE5, and that’s only because the difficulty practically is a one hit kill mode. RE4 on the other hand provides a good amount of difficulty that is perfectly scaled to your upgrades as you go through the game.
It isnt much harder than re5, but if you go to the first village, run in the house in the middle of the square on the left, you can run up to the second floor and get a shotgun, then you just run for 3 minutes, or kill 13 enemies, then a cutscene will end the village fight, after that you get some slack to explore and get comforable with the game.

RE5 took things a step too far into the action direction, and for the most part the gameplay and enemies are just reskins of RE4 only with less focus on survival horror. 5 is plenty fun in co-op, but when it comes to actually being a survival horror game I'll take RE4 any day. #5.
