Sugino made the cranksets for Suntour per my understanding just as Takagi made Shimano cranksets other than the Dura Ace ones in the early days. As OEM suppliers to the bike trade Sugino made all grades of cranksets from excellent forged units to cheap ones with riveted on chain wheels.
I'm choosing between ordering a Sugino Mighty or Sugino Ox, 50/34T with a 165mm crank length. It's impossible to find Shimano 105 5700 where im from and I really wanna get a crankset for a 10s drivetrain. Anyone have a review on Suginos?
Sugino makes high-quality components, and has for decades. It all depends on what sort of crank you want. The Mighty uses square taper, while the OX2 appears to be nearly identical to Shimano HTII.
Sugino claims that Sugino 75 crank arms use a proprietary "SG75" taper, which is complete nonsense. We've measured and compared this to many other ISO spindles and are 100% confident in saying these bottom brackets are ISO taper.
