The Parque del Oeste (in English: Western Park) is a park of the city of Madrid situated between the Autovía A-6, the Ciudad Universitaria de Madrid and the district of Moncloa. Before the 20th century, the land that the park currently occupies was the main landfill of the city.
Behind Plaza de España lies Parque del Oeste - a large green space which plays host to various species of tree, an artificial river and even a bunker from the Civil War! The majestic Templo de Debod is the beginning of Parque del Oeste, the green space that dominates the North of Madrid.
The Parque del Oeste or Western Park is a park north east of the Royal Palace and quite a bit away from the main tourist circuit of Madrid. Which is a bit of a shame because it's a fantastic park. Probably the most famous and best known feature of the park is the Templo de Debod and deservedly so.

Parque del Oeste. Sloping down the hill behind the Moncloa metro station, Parque del Oeste is quite beautiful, with plenty of shady corners where you can recline under a tree in the heat of the day and enjoy fine views out to the west towards Casa de Campo.
Parque del Oeste park. This area has a vast scenic network of winding, twisting avenues and paths. The Rosaleda garden was created and planted in 1956, in an area of gently rolling terrain known as La Llana, covering 18,000 square metres.
Parque del Oeste (Spanish for Western Park) is a much less visited park than the massive El Retiro. But it's a lot quieter too! It’s a pleasant little place to stroll amidst an extensive rose garden. I gave it four stars, but in mid-May when the roses are in full bloom, it’s unquestionably a five-star experience!
