The Chapultepec forest has a history that goes back three thousand years. Pieces of ceramics and burials from the Preclassic period (2500 BC - 200 AD) are testimonies that tell us about the first settlers on the shores of Lake Texcoco.
The Castle, although adapted to serve as the museum we know today is mostly in the form it was given under the rule of Maximiliano and Carlota in the latter part of the 1860s. Serving as their imperial residence, the terrace is among the most important scenic overlooks in the city.
