  1. Jun 16, 2021 · We are pleased to announce that we are again offering free guided tours of the Capitol, beginning June 16, 2021. These tours take about an hour and include a trip to the dome observation area. The dome is a 99-step climb above the 3rd floor and is accessible by stairs only.

If we are unable to schedule a tour for you, you are welcome to self-guide throughout the building but note that you will not be able to visit the dome on a self-guided tour.

  7. Colorado’s iconic, gold-domed Capitol looks out over the city of Denver from atop Brown’s Bluff, exactly one mile above sea level. Built between 1886 and 1908, the Capitol’s exterior remains largely original, but the interior has been subject to modernization and modification.
