Creoda of Wessex. Creoda (493? - 534?) is a shadowy figure from early Wessex history whose existence is disputed. Introduction. The name Creoda appears in the Anglian king-list and the (possibly derived) West Saxon Genealogical Regnal List, where he is stated to have been the son of Cerdic and father to Cynric.
Icelingas. Father. Cynewald. Creoda ( Cryda [1] or Crida, [2] 6th century) may have been one of the first kings of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia, ruling toward the end of the 6th century. Although he is mentioned in a pedigree found in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, Creoda is not given the title of king. His existence is disputed by some scholars.

Except there is a king featured in some King’s lists between the two – one Creoda of Wessex. Did Creoda actually reign as a King of Wessex? Who was he? What do we know about Creoda?
