Watchmen, graphic novel by writer Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons, published as a 12-part series by DC Comics from September 1986 to October 1987. A deconstruction of classic comics, Watchmen considered how real-life superheroes would affect the world around them and how everyday people would react to them.
Biography. Gibbons is a graphic novels writer and illustrator, born in London in 1949. He broke into British comics by working on horror and action titles for both DC Thomson and IPC during the late 1970s, and he joined ‘2000 AD’ as an Art Director.
