David Karp, (born July 6, 1986, New York, New York, U.S.), American Web developer and entrepreneur who founded the microblogging site Tumblr. Karp grew up on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, the elder of two sons of a teacher and a composer. He became interested in technology and programming at a young age, teaching himself HTML at 11.

David Karp is a professor and director of the Center for Restorative Justice in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego. His current scholarship focuses on restorative justice in community and educational settings.
