I found that if I pull up the Nvidia GeForce Experience Overlay (Alt + Z), and then click on the gear icon. Scrolling all the way to the bottom under "Performance Monitoring", and make sure "Always Show Reflex Flash Indicator" is unchecked. This fixes the black box issue.
