Abstract. A hypercoagulable state leading to increased risk for thrombotic events represents one of the most common complications observed in transfusion-dependent β-thalassemia (TDT) patients. TDT patients have increased frequencies of circulating activated platelets.
Dr. Elena Alexandrou Solomou completed her studies at the First Medical Institute of Leningrad in 1991. Then in 1998 she obtained the title of Radiologist at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Crete. She is a member of the Hellenic Society of Breast Imaging, the Cyprus Radiology Society and the European Society of Breast Imaging.
