Euclid Map. Euclid is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. It is part of the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan Area, and borders Cleveland. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 48,920. In 2009, Euclid celebrated its bicentennial.

In 1879, Cleveland was the first city to have its Public Square illuminated by the Brush lights. Large cities in Europe, as well as the United States, soon were illuminated by the Arc Lamps. In 1931, with a population of 12,753, Euclid officially became a city and Charles Ely elected the first mayor.

The original township area was settled in 1797 and was named for the famous Greek mathematician by the surveyors who arrived with Moses Cleaveland, an agent of the Connecticut Land Company.
