Harvey Cushing. 1869-1939. Cushing, a pioneer in neurosurgery, was born in Cleveland. He attended the Cleveland Manual Training School where he became interested in science and medicine. Cushing graduated with a B.A. from Yale University in 1891, and earned his M.D. from Harvard University in 1895.
