  4. Henry Mower Rice. Henry Rice was brought to St. Paul by the fur trade in 1849 and quickly made a fortune in real estate. Later, he served as a Territorial representative to Congress, and as one of Minnesota's first U.S. senators. He died in 1894 and was buried at the Oakland Cemetery.
