Reeves, Texas State Supreme Court Justice, and justice of the Supreme Court of the New Mexico Territory. [2] . When Reeves moved away from Palestine in 1850, the house was purchased by local merchant George R. Howard.

It is a classic example of a center passage dwelling with Greek Revival style features. The oldest portion of the house was built in 1848 by Ruben A and Sarah Reeves.
