Jean Derome (born June 29, 1955) is a French Canadian avant-garde saxophonist, flautist, and composer. A prominent figure in the Montreal musique actuelle (new music) scene, Derome has been a member of experimental , jazz , and rock groups, and has appeared on over 30 albums, including seven solo albums.

Jean Derome is a cofounder of the Ambiances Magnétiques record label, and one of the most active and provocative members involved in the many creative music movements of Montreal; he is a model and an inspiration for all who inhabit the imaginative world that the new music is creating.
In the early '90s, Derome formed the project Jean Derome et les Dangereux Zhoms, a fun band that has made four albums and a number of well-received festival appearances. He is also often heard in Les Patenteux du Québec, as well as in frequent collaborations with saxophonist, Ambiances Magnétiques' director, and wife Joane Hétu.
