Lawrence Bender was born in The Bronx, New York City, as Lawrence Kirk Bender. His mother was a kindergarten teacher. Lawrence's father was a college history professor. In high school, he was inspired to follow his grandfather's career as a civil engineer. At the University of Maine in 1979, he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering.

Lawrence Bender (born October 17, 1957) is an American movie producer. He became famous when he was the producer of Reservoir Dogs in 1992. He has produced all of Quentin Tarantino's movies except Death Proof. In the 1980s, he worked as a grip on the series Tales from the Darkside.
