May 18, 2018 · LOUIS XV (FRANCE) (1710 – 1774; ruled 1715 – 1774), king of France. Louis, duc d'Anjou, was the second surviving son of Louis, duke of Burgundy, and Marie-Adela ï de, daughter of Duke Victor-Amadeus II of Savoy, and great-grandson of Louis XIV (ruled 1643 – 1715).
Louis XV, known as Louis the Beloved, was King of France from 1 September 1715 until his death in 1774. He succeeded his great-grandfather Louis XIV at the age of five. Until he reached maturity in 1723, the kingdom was ruled by his grand-uncle Philippe II, Duke of Orléans, as Regent of France.
Born in 1710 in Versailles, Louis XV was the son of the Duke of Burgundy and Marie-Adélaïde of Savoy, as well as the great-grandson of Louis XIV .
