Margaret graduated from Short High School in 1944 and furthered her education at Indiana Central College in Indianapolis. She married Earl W. Brandenburg on December 26, 1946. Margaret worked in the insurance business alongside her husband, Earl at the Brandenburg Insurance Agency from 1949 until her retirement in 1995.
