Mary of Clopas. The hysteria of Mary of Clopas in Caravaggio 's The Entombment of Christ (1602). According to the Gospel of John, Mary of Clopas ( Ancient Greek: Μαρία ἡ τοῦ Κλωπᾶ, María hē tou Clōpá) was one of the women present at the crucifixion of Jesus and bringing supplies for his funeral.
At the death of Jesus, we are told that Mary wife of Cleophas/Clopas (Jn 19:25) was present. She was described as the mother of James and Joseph (Mt 27:56) in one account, and mother of James the Less and Joses in another (Mk 15:40).
