Charles was born in Grant County, Indiana. Calvin was the son of John Dean and Serena Tennell. Arminta was the daughter of Robert H. Cree and Sarah E. Marshall.
Mildred Marie Wilson Dean Marker. Inscription. James Dean died on September 30, 1955 at age 24 in a traffic accident on a California highway. He was laid to rest at Park Cemetery in Fairmount, Indiana, just 8 miles south of this location. Mildred dean is buried 30 yards west of this plaque.

Early life and education. Dean was born on February 8, 1931, in Marion, Indiana, the only child of Mildred Marie Wilson and Winton Dean. He claimed that his mother was partly Native American, and that his father belonged to a "line of original settlers that could be traced back to the Mayflower".
