Neithhotep is the earliest known named royal lady of Ancient Egypt. She bore the titles “Foremost (of women)” and “Consort of the Two Ladies”, indicating that she was a queen. Her name has been found on several other seal impressions and labels, most of them dated to the reign of Horus Aha.
Neithhotep is assumed to have been a princess from Lower Egypt who married the king of Upper Egypt in order to symbolically seal the unification. The assumption that she originated from Lower Egypt is based on her name (“ Neith is satisfied” ) which refers to the goddess Neith, a goddess who was viewed as patroness of Lower Egypt.

The greatest of these was Den (c. 2990 BCE) who is the first monarch depicted wearing the crown of Upper and Lower Egypt, indicating his dominance over the whole region.
