Historic Oakwood Cemetery was begun in 1852 on land donated by Lavinia Porter, daughter of Judge Augustus Porter. The Judge was one of the acknowledged founders of Niagara Falls, and one of its largest landowners. The Oakwood landscape we know today dates from an original design drawn in 1852 by noted civil engineer T.D. Judah.
Historic Oakwood Cemetery was established in 1852, and is the permanent home to over 22,000 residents that include Annie Edson Taylor, Captain Matthew Webb, and many more! The 20-acre site was laid out by renowned civil engineer T.D Judah and features a magnificent marble mausoleum designed by well-known architect E.B Green.
