Sigurd Erlingsson Ribbung (Old Norse: Sigurðr ribbungr) (died 1226) was a Norwegian nobleman and pretender to the throne of Norway during the civil war era in Norway.
Dec 30, 2023 · The Ribbung uprising began in the winter of 1219–20 with Sigurd Erlingsson as the king's subject. Already in the summer of 1220, the Viken lords had to ask King Håkon and Earl Skule for help. In the years that followed, the ribs settled over large parts of the eastern countryside, and King Sigurd took a seat on Frognøya in the Tyrifjord.

Sigurd Ribbung var en norsk opprørskonge. Han var sønn av baglerkongen Erling Steinvegg og kongsemne for opprørsflokken ribbungene. Ribbungene ble dannet i 1219, under ledelse av Gudolv av Blakstad.
As a king of the Birkebeiner faction, Haakon defeated the uprising of the final Bagler royal pretender, Sigurd Ribbung, in 1227. He put a definitive end to the civil war era when he had Skule Bårdsson killed in 1240, a year after he had himself proclaimed king in opposition to Haakon.
