Target Canada Co. was the Canadian subsidiary of the Target Corporation, the eighth-largest retailer in the United States. Formerly headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, the subsidiary formed with the acquisition of Zellers store leases from the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) in January 2011.
According to the retailer, its ambitious expansion into Canada couldn’t have reached profitability until at least 2021, and with black ink a minimum of six years away, the company has decided to close all 133 of its Canadian stores.
