About the vertex, the vertex is determined by (x-h)² and k. The x value that makes x-h=0 will be the x-coordinate of the vertex. K will be the y-coordinate of the vertex. y=-10(x+4)²-3 This will have a vertex at (-4,-3). a is negative therefore will open down and have a maximum point. |-10| > 1 therefore it's really skinny.
