  1. The 3 albums are called New Era - Part I/II/III. Eternal Light. Golstar's Rage. The Spell. Incitement (bonus song where they had Leo Figaro come in for a cover of one of their songs) The 2nd singer still retains that neoclassical element, but the lyrics range from introspective, to straight up cheese.

  2. Balflare and Knights of Round are keyboard-heavy bands that accurately emulate the european style of power metal, though the vocals are an acquired taste. The old vocalist of Knights of Round now sings in Odin, who more or less sound like Knights of Round again. Azrael is a pretty old (and cheesy) power metal band with the unique vocals of ...

  3. As far as power metal goes, I like Nightwish, Kamelot, Epica, Pathfinder, Blind Guardian, Symphony X, Within Temptation and Ayreon. Symphonic black metal: Carach Angren, Bishop of Hexen, Emperor, Borknagar, and some Old Man's Child. 4. Epica or Therion coyld be on Seconds but really far from Haggard. for a power metal band.. Check Rhapsody of Fire they have some amazing tracks with a heavy symphonic side "The Dark Tower of the Abbys" is the firsr that comes to my mind right now. Also if you like Haggard but it was too soft for you..

I admit, some of the bands listed here may or may not always be classified as Heavy Metal, but that’s the problem with genres, I guess. Regardless, together with Power Metal bands, it is the leather studded army of Heavy Metal bands that produced the majority of Christmas songs.

  7. No, symphonic metal will never be mainstream but that's because it's still metal. Some bands like Within Temptation may dabble in pop but most don't. Power metal is well in Europe too. In the US Kamelot recently sold out House of Blues in Orlando, not to mention they usually sell out NY, LA, and Seattle venues.
