Academy of Arts Novi Sad was founded in 1974 as one of the faculties of the University of Novi Sad. Today the Academy of Arts offers 35 accredited study programmes at the level of Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral studies, carried out by three departments: the Department of Music, the Department of Fine Arts and the Department of Dramatic Arts.
The Royal Academy Schools was the first institution to provide professional training for artists in Britain. The Schools' programme of formal training was modelled on that of the French Académie de peinture et de sculpture, founded by Louis XIV in 1648. It was shaped by the precepts laid down by Sir Joshua Reynolds.
In 1951–1953 he belonged to the Independents (Samostalni). In 1945, he joined the faculty, as full-professor, of the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, and, from 1959 to 1963, he was Dean of the Department of Fine Arts of the University of Belgrade, after the academy had been incorporated into the university.
